battlefront1Battlefront, the Channel 4 website and TV series about young campaigners, has just launched a new competition – and they are looking for young people with big ideas to enter.

The rules of the competition are simple:  If you are a young person aged between 14 and 21, and you have an issue that you would like to stand up for, or a cause you want to shout about then register your idea on the Battlefront website.

If your campaign is accepted for the site you can have your very own Battlefront page. The public can comment and vote on each other’s campaigns and the most popular campaign then chosen by the judges may win the chance to appear in the next Battlefront TV series (subject to competition rules of course).  Plus the winner will receive a state of the art mini video camera for making campaign videos.

Chain ReactionAt Chain Reaction we think that campaigning is one of many ways that young people can develop their full potential.  Chain Reaction offers young leaders an opportunity to learn practical tools and develop their networks, and over 200 people aged 21 (the leaders of tomorrow) attended Chain Reaction 2008.  One of those young people, Battlefront campaigner Manpreet Darroch gave a talk alongside Laura Merry and James Lee from the Trailblazers campaign network about how to get started in campaigning.

For some tips on how to get started in campaigning, you can read the full notes from the campaigning for social change session here (thank you Amy Sample Ward!), or the Campaigner’s Handbook produced by Battlefront.

Competition Rules:

To enter you must be aged between 14 and 21. The competition runs from now until the 23rd March, and if you don’t want to enter yourself, you can still get involved by voting for the competition entries you like the best.  Voting closes at midday on 30th March 2009.
